Conference Location
The conference will be held at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, the Midwest's largest full service, year-round resort and conference center, ranked in the top 50 travel destinations and services worldwide by Conde Nast Traveler. Situated on 1,400 acres in the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula along the shores of Lake Michigan's East Grand Traverse Bay, its just 10 minutes from Traverse City's Cherry Capital Airport. Traverse City Airport has daily direct flights from many major cities such as Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Cincinnati, Dallas and Detroit. The Spa offers services that are totally dedicated to health, well-being and beauty. As for recreation activities,the resort boasts three exceptional golf courses, one of which was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is a Golf Magazine Silver Medal Resort. Conference Format
The conference will include plenary, oral, and poster sessions. There will be four plenary talks presented by international leaders in the plasma physics community. One plenary presentation will be an address by the 2006 Plasma Science and Applications Committee Prize recipient. Oral presentations will include both invited and contributed papers. Invited talks will be 30 minutes and contributed talks 15 minutes including 5 minutes for questions. Oral presentations will be delivered using a computer and LCD projector. Talks will be loaded onto presentation computers a day ahead of each session. The expected applications are Microsoft Powerpoint and Adobe Acrobat (pdf files). Presentations can be sent by email at email@icops2006.org before the conference or the electronic files can be submitted on a CD or flash memory and will be transferred to our database at registration. Posters should fit on 4-by-8-foot boards.
REGISTRATION
All attendees must check in at the conference registration desk. Those who have pre-registered and pre-paid need to pick up their registration pack including their official 2006 ICOPS receipt and badge. The badge should be worn at all times during the technical sessions, breaks, and social functions. Those pre-registering without paying the registration fee need to pay their on-site registration fee before receiving their registration pack. Those who have not pre-registered will need to complete a registration form on-site and pay their on-site registration fee before receiving their registration pack. Cash, personal check, traveler’s check, money order and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard only) will be accepted for payment of the registration fee. All payments must be US dollars and drawn on a US bank. The registration fee includes the Sunday reception (for regular registrants only), refreshments at the morning and afternoon breaks, and the Conference Record-Abstract Book. A limited number of banquet tickets are available at an additional charge of $25 each. Registration and general information will be available at the conference registration desk, which will open on Sunday 4 June at 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM; Monday 5 June it will open at 7:00 AM and Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 AM.
CONFERENCE REGISTRATION DESK AND SERVICES
The conference registration desk will be set up in the Governors Prefunction area in front of Governors Hall. Attendees who have not registered should register here. Attendees who have pre-registered should pick up their registration packs at the conference registration desk. Information on the social events, companion activities, IEEE membership, placement center, exhibitor booths and literature display will be located in Governors Hall A,B,C,D.
Publications
The Conference Record will be the Book of Abstracts. Manuscripts of plenary and invited oral presentations can be submitted for a special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science to be published in early 2007.
Placement Center
